Q. Are your apps published in Google Play and Apple App Store?
A. Yes. Our apps meet all the requirements of Google Play, Apple App Store, and Windows and are continuously updated as needed by all three firms. This includes Privacy and other policies.
Q. Do your apps work on all Android phones?
A. MapToTrack Apps work on Android smartphones, including flip phones. "Pay as You Go" phones advertised as smartphones are not smart enough to handle MapToTrack Apps.
Q. Can you use the apps offline - like when you are in a rural area where there is no wireless service?
A. Yes. Acquiring a GPS point works offline, too. The collected data is saved to the device offline. The GPS is triangulated off nine satellites and will provide the latitude and longitude. However, you cannot do reverse geocoding (street and number addressing) or access the Census Bureau tables because you are working offline.
Q. Can I use photos taken on my phone and put them in the app?
A. Yes. To ensure everyone is at their best, we also provide a feature where the photo has to be taken within the app to ensure the actual date, time, and location of the image correspond with the collection date, time, and location. Using this feature, you can take up to 50 pictures in one record, but it creates a massive report.
Q. Can you edit the photos?
A. Yes. If needed, you can highlight, type, dictate, and draw on the images. This is particularly helpful on construction sites for work modifications, change orders, work orders, site conditions, etc.
Q. Can you shoot videos using the app?
A. Yes! However, we do not recommend a feature-length movie.....
Q. How hard is it for my phone to recognize my voice if I want to dictate information instead of typing it in?
A. Hardly any time at all with a smartphone. Voice recognition technology has improved dramatically. Windows voice recognition for desktops and laptops works great, too - but it takes a little more time to train the device.
Q. Do you build apps in Spanish and other languages?
A. Yes, we do! Just let us know the language. It also helps if you have a user who is fluent in the language, as we have built apps with regional derivations. The app’s success relies on the accuracy of the translation :)
Q. How old can my smartphone be to use MapToTrack apps successfully?
A. It depends on the manufacturer. We don't recommend using a device over five years old from a major smartphone manufacturer. Older devices don't have the horsepower to handle technology changes as rapidly as they are. The adage "You get what you pay for" is accurate in mobile devices.
Q. Can I save a record to my device and edit it later?
A. Absolutely. Our apps also let you know that you have saved records that have not been uploaded.
Q. How do I buy an app?
A. Contact us at support@maptotrack.com to get the conversation underway. We work with you to define the app's functionality, mapping, tracking, report, and optional dashboard needs. We prepare a quote to build the app. Payment is required in advance to commence the work. A prototype is designed, and the user tests the functionality. Here, we make any modifications needed and do final testing for the app and the report(s) it produces. The turnaround time frame is generally no more than 30 days. Once the app is completed, a monthly or annual user fee is charged, which covers a single-user email account that provides unlimited voice, audio, and video, and photo file storage and reports. Annual volume user discounts are available.
The cost of an app is purchase card priced. The monthly user fee is $25.00 per email account.
Q. How long does it take to build an app?
A. Depending on the complexity of the requirements, the duration of design to deployment can be a matter of weeks to a month. Do know that we do not solve world hunger with our apps. Sometimes, the business problem is too complicated for one app to pull off the solution. We will advise you if it is better to break the problem into parts, such as smaller apps, to get the job done. The FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) is a perfect example of this. ICS has many forms that we convert into apps. In this case and the case of FEMA Damage Assessment Categories A - G, we provide you with a menu of the apps. You point and click on the app that you need.
Q. We would like live situational analysis and analytics dashboards. Do you provide those?
A. Yes, we do. We design dashboards that harvest live data from the app so that you are able to view your crews and also see Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information collected in the app. Like the app, you provide to us what you would like to see. We provide an estimate for the dashboard for your approval and invoice for the work in advance. We then design, connect the app(s) to the dashboard and publish it. A monthly or annual email-based account user fee is charged for access to the dashboard(s).
Q. Do you provide Return on Investment estimates?
A. Yes, we do. However, we often whisper them because the savings can be insane, and it's almost embarrassing to think about the previous manual process. :)
