A complete transit solution to ensure bus shelters and train stations are clean and safe for the traveling public. Pioneered in Denver, Colorado with Denver’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) in 2016, this package of apps is purchased by and customized for the transit agency and distributed to janitorial and snow removal contractor crew leaders, and/or transit agency employee crew leaders to document their work for janitorial cleaning requirements and safety, contract compliance, slip and fall and graffiti litigation. The business model for the transit apps that RTD put into place in 2016 works like this. RTD had difficulty tracking janitorial/maintenance and snow removal contractors’ work throughout the district during all seasons of the year. The snow season was particularly problematic as RTD’s service areas cover the plains and the foothills in the Denver Metropolitan area. As for any transit agency, safety for the traveling public is critical with slip and fall incidents to be avoided. Contractors took photos and added them to reports that were manually submitted at the end of the month for contract compliance and payment. Real-time monitoring was impossible until MapToTrack mobilized the procedure for its contractors. Simple apps showing train corridors, stations, and bus shelters were developed that required contractors to select the corridor, station, shelter, or train being serviced, take “Before” and “After” photos with relevant notes, using dictation or the device keyboard, and upload the report. RTD managers review the reports and contractor live activity on their MapToTrack portal to monitor district safety and maintenance, eliminating millions of reports and manual labor for contractors and RTD managers. Contract compliance is dynamic. Grafitti litigation is enhanced and slip and fall events have documentation that is readily available. The cost to the contractor is a monthly MapToTrack license for crew chiefs. Sub contractor personnel that used to follow crews around to take photos and prepare reports now perform billable work, saving these small businesses significant cost
